What is a Venogram?
A venogram is a diagnostic test that visualizes the veins in your body, especially in the legs, using a special contrast dye and X-ray technology. This test helps identify blockages, clots, or abnormalities in the vein structure.
Purpose of a Venogram
It’s mainly used to confirm Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), examine congenital vein issues, locate veins for grafting, and investigate swelling or leg pain causes.
Procedure
The process involves injecting a contrast dye into a vein and capturing X-ray images using fluoroscopy. It helps pinpoint clotting issues or narrowed/blocked areas in the veins.
Recovery
Keep the wound clean and dry for 48 hours post-procedure. Full healing usually takes 10–12 days. Avoid soaking the area in water until it heals completely.
